The essence and identity of our territory, Panzano in Chianti

The winery Il Palagio di Panzano is located in a privileged position, on the south and south-west side of the Conca d’Oro, a few steps from Panzano in Chianti, a charming village in the heart of the Chianti Classico area.

Creative soul

The vineyards are like a second home for Franco, he knows every stone and every plant. His accuracy and great care in the vineyard are the guarantee of quality and distinctiveness of all our wines. Franco loves to grow wine but he also has another passion that ties him to our land: the artisanal restoration of antique Tuscan furniture. A superb winemaker with a creative soul!

Our Soils

There are two main geological units: the first one is the Pietraforte, which dates from the Late Cretaceous period and the second one is called Argille Varicolori, belonging to the Sillano Formation. From the agronomic and pedological study we have outlined the agronomical- viticultural and wine-making characteristics of each area of our land. Our wines:  Chianti Classico Annata DOCG Il Palagio di Panzano , Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG Il Palagio di Panzano and IGT Rosato Aldemara are the result of a careful selection done in different plots of our  vineyards. Only Gran Selezione DOCG is born from the selection of the single vineyard La Vigna delle Bambole.

Purity

As in the vineyard even in the cellar we maintain the characteristics of each selection carried out in the different plots of vineyards, enhancing the typical and distinctive character of each one. Each selection has its own history, which is why we reserve different aging and refinement processes, taking care to preserve the typical hints of “Il Palagio” Sangiovese with extreme frankness and craftsmanship.

Two families, one destiny among the vineyards of Chianti

Our family histories are rooted in the vineyards of Chianti Classico. It is here, between the rows of vines of Il Palagio di Panzano in the heart of Tuscany, that our grandfathers Dario and Dino worked the land in respect of the enchanting nature of the Conca d’Oro. And it was still on the lands of Il Palagio that Monia’s father, Fabrizio Piccini, conducted the winery, which we are now carrying on with respect for our roots but with the courage to take new paths.

The present and the future of our Palagio di Panzano consists in sustainable production to enhance the unique character of our land and to obtain wines of the highest territorial expression. The path of organic farming links us to the Unione Viticoltori di Panzano, of which we are members. Sustainability for us is also synonymous with family run. The size of our land allows us to follow, accompany and maintain the variety and richness of our ecosystem.

The wines of Il Palagio di Panzano are straightforward and are distinguished by their “Palagio” and “Panzanese” stamp.
